Skin of the face and neck lose elasticity as one ages. Underlying muscles also lose tone. This is magnified through sun exposure, weight gain or loss, gravity and stress. These factors may act together and accentuate the appearance of wrinkles, creating a tired look.

A facelift/neck lift helps improve the most visible signs of aging through removal and redistributing of excess fatty deposits, tightening underlying muscles and removing sagging skin. The standard facelift addresses the lower third of the face and the upper neck.

Variants include the mini and extended facelift/neck lift procedures. Procedure choice depends on your needs and must be discussed with your surgeon. Surgeons have recognised the three dimensional nature of facial structures and often complement this procedure with others to restore volume and address cosmetic issues throughout the facial-neck structures.

Facelift options may include:

Traditional Facelift: For extensive facial sagginess, doctor’s may recommend a traditional facelift. Depending on your facial enhancement goals, your surgeon may suggest an approach that could include a brow lift or neck lift as well.

Mini-Facelift: For individuals who have relatively good skin tone but have moderately sagging facial tissues, a mini-facelift may offer distinct advantages in terms of recovery and post-procedure comfort. Your surgeon may recommend a short-scar, S-Lift technique; as well as mini-facelift procedure focused on the jaw line, cheeks, and mid-face. These procedures allow for an incision hidden behind the ear. Some patients will benefit from a dual approach that includes non-invasive treatments such as Botox® Cosmetic, facial fat grafting, or facial fillers along with the mini-facelift.

Mid-Facelift: Also known as a cheek lift, a mid-facelift restores youthful vitality to the mid-face, lifting and shaping the cheeks to achieve a natural rejuvenated look without the need to undergo a full facelift. This procedure is often reserved for individuals not yet in need of a full facelift. Mid- facelifts are ideal for reducing puffiness under the eyes, improving the contour of the upper cheeks, and reducing nasolabial folds. Through limited incisions, a mid-facelift can restore a youthful balance; with smooth, full, and firm curves.

Neck Lift: Sagging skin and muscles in the neck area can hide the healthy line of your jaw and seem to pull your whole face downward. This procedure combines cervical and submental lifts to tighten loose muscles and eliminate excess skin or fat near the neck and chin, and in some cases can pair this procedure with an upper-facial procedure to provide symmetry and a more balanced youthful appearance.
